The Language Lab constitutes one of the two co-creation labs within EducationLab, focusing on addressing language deficiencies among vulnerable students. Within the co-creation labs, we follow the 5D methodology, where we initially investigate the complexities of the problem to then devise suitable solutions and interventions. For instance, within the Language Lab, research is conducted on the effectiveness of existing interventions, such as a summer school; co-creative interventions are established, such as pre-teaching; and valuable knowledge is gathered through literature reviews on early language interventions. Teachers explore the problem together with researchers.
Teachers and researchers make a diagnosis based on literature study, data analysis and simulation models.
The researchers and teachers formulate promising interventions. These are then implemented in the form of pilots in educational practice.
De interventies worden op verschillende scholen getoetst. Nadien worden zowel de effectiviteit van de interventies als het proces zorgvuldig geëvalueerd, en bepalen leraren en onderzoekers gezamenlijk of de interventie kansrijk is.
