Language offer Amsterdam Zuidoost

As part of the Masterplan Zuidoost (2021-2040), the language supply for the young child in Amsterdam Zuidoost was mapped out. This work was carried out in cooperation with the Young Child Project Group, with the ambition of creating equal opportunities for the young child. The participants of the project group all deal with children aged -9 months to 6 years in their work and work, for example, in childcare, primary schools, parent and child teams or the Municipality of Amsterdam. In collaboration with researchers from Education Lab NL, members of the project group made an overview of current language provision in Southeast by finding out which initiatives are currently taking place to promote young children’s language development. The parties then jointly conducted a bottleneck inventory. Knowledge from science about effective language education and insights from (educational) practice were combined to formulate opportunities and lay the foundation for future developments in the field of language in Amsterdam Zuidoost.
